Junior High Orchestra 3
Strengthening Musical Skills & Ensemble Performance
Orchestra 3 is designed for 8th and 9th-grade students who are ready to refine their technique and take their ensemble performance to the next level. This program builds on prior jazz training, focusing on advanced musicianship, ensemble dynamics, and improvisation. Through weekly rehearsals and private lessons, students develop greater technical proficiency, confidence, and creative expression in a supportive learning environment.
In addition to expert instruction, students in Orchestra 3 explore more complex jazz arrangements and deepen their understanding of jazz theory. Those who need an instrument receive a high-quality loan for the school year, ensuring they have the tools to succeed. With a curriculum designed to challenge and inspire, students gain the skills and experience needed to progress toward advanced performance opportunities.
As with all Cincinnati Jazz Academy programs, Orchestra 3 is fully funded through a $1,600 scholarship for each student. This covers tuition, transportation, instrument loans, private lessons, and meals, eliminating financial barriers to participation. Students also have the opportunity to showcase their talents in community performances and gain valuable stage experience in a professional setting.
