Elementary Orchestra 1
Building a Strong Musical Foundation
Orchestra 1 is the perfect starting point for 4th and 5th-grade students eager to explore the vibrant world of jazz. This foundational program introduces young musicians to the fundamentals of ensemble playing, rhythm, and musical expression. Students participate in weekly group rehearsals where they build confidence, learn collaboration, and discover the joy of making music together.
In addition to group rehearsals, Orchestra 1 provides individualized attention through private lessons with experienced Jazz Academy instructors. These lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, helping them develop their technical abilities and musical understanding. Students without instruments are fully supported with high-quality instrument loans for the entire academic year, ensuring that everyone has the tools they need to succeed.
As part of the Cincinnati Jazz Academy's commitment to barrier-free education, Orchestra 1 removes logistical and financial barriers for families. Transportation to rehearsals, after-school meals, and all program materials are provided at no cost. The program not only cultivates technical skills but also nurtures a lifelong appreciation for jazz while preparing students for advanced opportunities within the Academy.
