We believe every student deserves access to exceptional music education. A partnership of Kennedy Heights Arts Center and Cincinnati Public Schools, The Cincinnati Jazz Academy offers barrier-free jazz instruction to underserved public school students in grades 4 through 12. Our holistic approach includes daily group classes, weekly private lessons, dynamic performances, and workshops with guest artists. By fostering creativity, discipline, and a deep love for jazz, we’re shaping the next generation of musicians.

Unlocking Potential Through the Power of Jazz

  • Elementary Orchestra 1

    For grades 4-5, this program offers large ensemble instruction once a week. Students receive private lessons, access to high-quality instruments, and support to build their foundational jazz skills.

    Rehearsals: Thursdays, 4:30–5:50 PM

  • Middle School Orchestra 2

    Designed for grades 6-7, this program provides continued ensemble training, weekly private lessons, and loaned instruments. Students grow their confidence and creativity in a supportive environment.

    Rehearsals: Mondays, 4:30–5:50 PM

  • Junior High Orchestra 3

    Tailored for grades 8-9, this program focuses on ensemble performance and individual growth. Students benefit from private lessons, instrument access, and performance opportunities.

    Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 4:30–5:50 PM

  • High School Orchestra 4

    For grades 10-12, this program hones advanced jazz performance skills through ensemble instruction, local/regional and national performances, as well as master classes with world-class artists.

    Rehearsals: Thursdays, 4:30–6:00 PM

Make a Difference Through Music Education

The Cincinnati Jazz Academy is always looking for passionate educators, musicians, and volunteers to help us shape the next generation of jazz legends. Whether you're interested in teaching, mentoring, or supporting our programs, there are opportunities to join our mission of providing high-quality, barrier-free jazz education.

  • The Cincinnati Jazz Academy Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of this dynamic after-school music education program serving 4th–12th grade students from Cincinnati Public Schools. Working closely with the Music Director, the Program Manager ensures smooth program execution by managing logistics, scheduling private lessons, maintaining equipment and inventory, coordinating transportation, and fostering communication with families and staff. This full-time position combines administrative expertise, community engagement, and a passion for jazz education to support the Academy's mission of providing barrier-free access to high-quality music instruction.
